The Sandgaard Foundation
Thomas Sandgaard is the Founder and President of the Sandgaard Foundation.
The Sandgaard Foundation seeks to address the United States tragic opioid and fentanyl crisis by helping to fund initiatives that save lives from overdose, help people escape the cycle of relapse, and support victims and their families.
Last year the Sandgaard Foundation distributed over 550,000 units of Narcan/Naloxone nationwide to reverse opioid/fentanyl overdoses and save lives. We also create non-traditional coalitions and actively support initiatives that create positive changes to help end the opioid epidemic by changing the conversation around the pain, shame, and isolation that brings people into the crisis and keeps them there.
The Sandgaard Foundation’s grantees include but are not limited to: Yale University, The Voices Project, Recovery Fest, Mobilize Recovery, the Colorado Naloxone Project, and the Junction Film.
Music
Thomas Sandgaard wasn’t the only 15-year-old kid with a guitar and a dream of becoming a rock star. Growing up in small-town Denmark in the 70s, he worshipped at the altar of gods such as Jeff Beck, Jan Akkerman of Focus and iconic Deep Purple six-string wizard Ritchie Blackmore.
Now, more than four decades after he drifted away from music, Thomas has returned to his first love. He is the guitarist and driving force behind Sandgaard, the band that bears his name and whose music embodies both the spirit and the sound he loved as a young man.
